How Should You React When You Are Corrected As An Adult?

Spiting out
There are some times when even as adults that are supposed to know better, we act funny and get treated accordingly. In the event of such rare periods in our lives, what should we do to soften the tensions?

When was the last time you had or received it and from what source? Was it cool and well tailored to the needed areas, or was it like some bitter pills to swallow?

Did it lead to enmities or open frank talks and firm enough, to get you right on tracks? Did you flare up or maintained your temper down to the last and probably went to the bed without food but with your head filled to the brim thinking and analyzing it all? How was the RAIN if I may ask?

Was it from your spouse, a friend, family member, or your boss? When it was being poured as it were, did you wish the ground to open and cover you up? Hmmn! What I simply mean here are those well (constructed, pepperish remarks, hard but bitter truths, black and white talk.) You should know better.

It comes in varied forms/names like:
Criticism, Lashing, Discipline, Correction, and Reminders etc. I ask again, how did you respond or react to it?
When we were children, the above lists were all together in one word. Discipline. Something that no right thinking person would want to reject despite the pain that are often associated with it.

Now we have grown so to say but none ever outgrows disciplines in all its ramifications. The only difference is how it is served, but one thing remains the same. It is never joyous! It stabs either physically or emotionally. As a matter of fact, it hurts. To get to the point here, when was the last time you took an injection, did you cry or give out that hard to define sound (laughcry?) don't  worry about the meaning because I know you understands it.
Practical

We should be grateful for having someone to appraise us and honestly enough to do that without fear of favor because it helps to keep us on the right track. So whenever we are corrected or see the need to correct another fellow, let’s see it as a 50-50 thing, yes as what we owe each other and humbly and respectfully offer and receive it accordingly.

Let’s not carry ourselves too high, thereby denying ourselves the great opportunities of being called to order by fellow humans who has our best interests at heart.

May we all remain flexible enough to always get adjusted rightly and maintain an open mind for some well constructive advises whenever we have the privilege to receive and benefit from it. They are just various forms of disciplinary measures adapted for our own good.

Do not feel as if you have it all, for no one alive today nor even those prior to us had ever or can boast of that. whenever you sees the need to correct others or even to correct yourself as a person, please feel free to do just that for that is the way it is and should be.

I repeat the opening question, can you stand the rain? Good! it should wash us clean instead of merely getting us wet without achieving anything worthwhile. And that is if we are humble enough to allow that.

Getting corrected by our fellow humans should be viewed as some kind of favor that God is extending to us through our close friends, neighbors or whoever.

Therefore let us value and cherish it for our overall benefits.

A question that takes more than a yes as an answer.
