Schooling is described as training or instructing and sometimes educating, while education goes with the process or art of imparting knowledge, skill and judgement. Further to education also comes with learning either formally or informally
At least with the above few lines, we have been able to get our understandings of the topic in a bit clearer terms and are now ready to go further in clarifying the points in order to make them stand out for the benefit of all.

Going to school and being educated are two different things but many people have them as one due to how interchangeably the two words has been used to qualify each other.

In this expository article, we will be looking at them with a view to correcting some wrong notions about these two words which had remained with themselves for so long and which have seriously altered their unique meanings to different persons over the years.
We believe that getting the facts properly separated would help many people to weigh their choices carefully and know which one suits them best when it comes to schooling and educating of their children as we have it today.

Schooling Versus Education Weighed In The Balance
When most us left school after perhaps 16 or 20 years of schooling, we knew basically nothing except our times tables and where our country is in the world map together with other stereo typed knowledge of what happens when a person uses present tense instead of past tense and so on. We were basically far from the realities of what life is all about.
In order words, the best we could ever get from school is information and few other analytical abilities to apply while solving some mathematical problems or the uses of equations which most us had done away with ever since we left school for the practical life we live today.

School teaches us some vital skills that we could use for the rest of our life, but let truth be told, it takes years to have that achieved and besides, most people spend some greater part of their lives learning 'just' how to learn in school, after which many who do not have money to get into other vocational training would end up not even knowing how to live an independent life of their own nor have the common ability of being able to do some basic things in life.

Greater many who has had the rigorous schooling has been found wanting when it comes to thinking for themselves or even to settle some differences between friends or how to live in peace with one's marriage mate and other things that matters most in life. Damn it, if it's not to read and theorize!
Put simply, school puts lot of emphasis on how to's and not really on practical terms such as how to fix your car when it breaks down, how to live peacefully with your neighbors, how to treat others with respects and much more but instead all we come out from the school with was how to win and lose, how to pass our exams which many could easily do by cramming the answers and pouring them on the question papers for the markers just to get the needed marks and be presented with the same paper certificates.

Schools are wonderful because it keeps people learning how to learn and when most them had learned enough, the next best thing to do is, to go back into teaching because that's what they could do best since nothing else comes close to being easy for them except that same stereotyped information that they were stuffed with while in school.
Funny enough, those first class upper-students ends up working in some flourishing establishments of the illiterates. Yes, those that were considered blockheads while in school but who probably backed out and started something doing before their learned mates could pass out from schools of endless learning.
Beyond being laughable as it may be, the highly learned ones would then be put, sometimes at top positions of the companies to manage others, some of whom may be their schoolmates alongside others of less school qualifications.
The Teachers In Retrospects
Take away the passing on of those endless instructions to the students, and have some teachers do things practically with their natural sense of reasoning or abilities and see how most of them had placed great limits on themselves with regards to what they could do aside from teaching others how to do what they could probably not be able to do.

Enough apologies to the hard working teachers around the world, those who took their teachings to the next levels and had good impacts on those they taught. These ones did not limit their teachings to the class/lecture rooms, they made their works practical and helped their pupils and students to see that out side the class rooms lies the realities of this life. Teachers, wise up and get the necessary real life education in order to teach realistic lessons and not to continue pursuing one degree after the other.
We spent years in the schools and when we look back at those days now as adults, we shake our heads as we recall those funny instructions that our teachers were meticulously passing on to us especially during biology lessons on how some animals live their lives and what we should know about ants, butterflies,cockroaches, chickens and all the rests in which we are today not making any use of because if we do, we have ourselves to blame because it would leave our tables without food for our families.

A very good example of the differences between schooling and education can be seen with what the Chinese government is doing with their educational system as it's realistically called.
Placing More Emphasis On Education Than In Schooling
Some wise parents today are beginning to understand where the current trends are pointing, if one of them could be working to generate income for the family, the other one would stay with their kids and give them the best of education that will see them through in life instead of spending fortunes on schooling them away from the realities only for them to get exposed to the real thing when they are almost getting used to the lazy lifestyles, if they haven't already.
Yes, being at home to welcome them back from their formative schooling years and helping them with their home works is a great start instead of both parents working to make enough money for the endless extra-school curriculum and other good things of life, which works to farther the children away from the real lessons they should be getting from their parents.

While not discouraging the ideas of schooling completely, we are however being made to understand that schooling our children is not the same as educating them.
For real, these children are ours and not that of the teachers and therefore it's our responsibilities to give them the best of education not merely by placing them in the hands of others to have them half programmed for us in their own different and preferred ways.

All in the name of schooling, some parents had lost their children to some foreign and strange behaviors which they are not known with as a family. Others had gone to the extents of killing their parents for not being able to do like the rich parents of of their school mates in terms of providing for all their excessive demands.

School life is said to be the best because in school you are permitted to live any how you want away from the watchful eyes of your parents.
You get everything you demands from your parents, you live away from the realities of life and take that to be the best when in the real sense of it you are merely living in a fool's paradise while your parents struggle and may probably die prematurely all because of your living the best of life. Taaa!!!!
When you eventually comes into the real world of practical living, you then start remembering of how you used to play away with all that your parents were having sleeplessness nights on at school, and then wish that you have a second chance to squander things again. Too late for you!
I have had some people who are still in the school since I was a kid doing one course or the other and yet nothing tangible is being shown as the results of all endless courses while most of their mates, some of whom left after getting the basic schooling, are out there getting the real life education which is practical to the core and are living the practical life instead of the continuous four wall classroom which many termed the best of life .
The statement that 'what a person learned in the school does not make him a professor but that which he develops in himself' cannot be more than true as many people who happened to bag all the degrees obtainable in schools are the ones working in the companies of the drop outs with all their long grammars, big suits and long ties.

Let's place the jobs where it belongs. If the parents know that it's the school's job to school our children, it then basically falls on the parents to educate their children because the school cannot do that for them.
Some children who did not have the opportunity of going to the school but who were home tutored by their parents has been discovered to turn out a well rounded adults and more useful to the society than those who actually went to school.
Besides if it's to be, there has been children who were home-schooled and who turned out better off than those left for the school to be programmed like robots.
Schooling is not bad but one should know the extent to which he should allow oneself or children to be molded simply for some continued learning which usually leave one incapacitated for life.
Schooling have had its effects on people generally at least for a long time now, it is therefore a high time for people to give education chance to prove itself and let us weigh the the two options and see the best one to go for. Schooling is certainly not the same as getting educated with the real things in life. Quote different sources and the practical results of schooling with its effects on the world.
Many great men today who dropped out of the school didn't do that because there weren't being schooled like the other kids, they dropped out because they have gotten what they wanted, seen farther than their teachers and even their parents and needed to move on into real life education which had seen them to be where they are today!
We do hear of most them and not only that, some who actually passed through the rigorous ladder of schooling are promoting the very ideas of doing all that one could to get educated instead of schooling all the natural senses out of one's brain.

Getting educated is far more better than passing through schools of various taught without anything to show for it. Get educated and live to effect others positively instead of priding yourself of having attained the highest degrees or that of being able to send your children to the highest schools and colleges with no real life lessons learned.
